Windows 10’s Game DVR feature can slow your gaming performance by recording video in the background. If you don’t care about recording your gameplay, disable Game DVR for performance reasons.
This also disables the “Game Bar”, which often pops up when you start playing games. It’s only helpful if you want to take screenshots or record gameplay.
What Are Game DVR and the Game Bar?
RELATED:How to Record PC Gameplay With Windows 10’s Game DVR and Game Bar
The Game DVR feature in Windows 10 was originally part of the Xbox app, and it’s modeled on the similar feature on the Xbox One. Game DVR can automatically record video of your PC gameplay in the background with “background recording”, saving this video to a file when you choose. If you don’t choose to save it, Game DVR discards that video and continues recording in the background. This allows you to play games normally and then decide to save the last five minutes of gameplay to a file when something cool happens.
Unfortunately, Game DVR takes system resources. On a slower computer–or if you just want maximum graphical horsepower for your games–it can noticeably slow your in-game performance and lower your FPS. If you don’t care about recording your gameplay, you’ll want to disable this feature. This Game DVR feature may or may not be enabled by default, depending on your PC’s hardware.
The Game Bar is the graphical interface that allows you to record gameplay, save clips, and take screenshots with the Game DVR feature. It doesn’t necessarily lower your system performance, but it can get in the way by popping up. The Game Bar is always enabled by default on Windows 10.

Even after disabling Game DVR and the Game Bar, normal in-game screenshot shortcuts and NVIDIA’s game recording feature, formerly known as ShadowPlay, will still function. Game DVR is just one of many options for recording gameplay and taking screenshots.
How to Disable Game DVR
In Windows 10’s Creators Update, Game DVR and Game Bar settings have been moved to the main Settings application where they belong. They’re no longer buried in the Xbox application like they used to be.
To disable Game DVR, head to Settings > Gaming > Game DVR. Ensure the “Record in the background while I’m playing a game” option here is set to “Off”.
You’ll still be able to start a manual recording from the Game Bar, but Windows 10 won’t automatically record anything in the background.
How to Disable the Game Bar
To disable the Game Bar, head to Settings > Gaming > Game Bar. Set the “Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar” option here to “Off”.
You won’t see the Game bar in the future unless you return to this screen and turn it back on.

WIndows + D key will work but if i click on anything it just pops back up. I can't seem to find the option to stop this from happening.(alt tabb will not work )
Neadien,
I'm afraid you won't be able to do what it is you're trying to do. You're best bet is to either use the regular fullscreen mode and alt-tab in and out as needed or use the regular windowed mode and simply click off the game screen to remove focus, or minimize the game window as you would any other windowed app.

Bumping this since regular fullscreen has now been removed, i'm sure there are many now who would love to know how to minimize the game without having to run it in a non-fullscreen window. I'm one of them. Surely this is something WoW devs thought of before actual fullscreen was removed, right?
Can Blizzard just return full screen mode to us already, this is unacceptable!

I think the issue is that people don't know how to access the desktop without exiting the game now. If you tab out of windowed fullscreen, the game is still just in the background of something else. If you tabbed out of non-windowed fullscreen, the game was minimized fully so you can access your desktop.
Wait .. what? .. Full screen is removed lol ?

Since you're a windows expert, tell us how you minimize your game while in 'Fullscreen (windowed)' without having it continue to run maximized in the background (aka not actually minimized). Even the blue in this thread couldn't come up with an answer, so i'd love to hear yours.
No the problem is I have multiple monitors, I don't want my mouse to be able to drift outside the game window.. and I don't want to see all my taskbar programs when I am in-game!

But it is given that fullscreen is also support until 2022 in DirectX12. Blizzard left the option to go back to X11 in the drop menu, surly they could have left the fullscreen as an option as well. So in reality this a Blizzard mess, not a DirectX12 mess.
Exactly what Yvonnel said. I have HALF FPS (Or would if the game worked) in Full Window rather than Full Screen. DAFUQ?
And I forgot, I need Windows 10 to run DX12 lol

i mean if you are losing 50% FPS by the game being windowed fullscreen or windowed... you should probably replace the potato you're playing on.
Bottom line is, is that before I was able to hit the Windows Key and the game minimized to the taskbar. Not any more. Windows key + D does it, Alt+Tab does it too. So why not just the Windows key do the job anymore??? I can't figure it out!
On windows 10. Hit windows button to bring up taskbar. Click button in for right twice. There you go! I think windows 7/8 have a similar 'show desktop button.

You realize that there is a difference between minimizing everything and minimizing just WoW right? 'Show Desktop' is basically the same as hitting Windows Key + D, it minimizes everything. Many of us have stuff up on secondary monitors that we want to stay there, etc.

Similarly, even if you minimize all via Windows Key + D the moment you click on any app WoW pops up in Windowed full screen in the background. It is reasonable to request that Blizz research a way to perform a full minimization from the Windowed (Full Screen) mode since the old Full Screen mode was removed. I don't think the DX12 API would prevent that, it's likely non-standard in the API though.

I think you can use an addon called AdvancedInterfaceOptions to set the mouse to lock to the game window.
I don't know how to fix the other issue, except by telling windows to auto hide the taskbar, which is just obnoxious because then it pops up and down constantly as you move the mouse near it and away, just while playing the game.
And I forgot, I need Windows 10 to run DX12 lol
you need windows 10 to be taken seriously. staying on windows 7 ensures you are woefully out of date and no one is going to support it.
Did anyone ever figure out a way to minimize from Fullscreen?

Most computer games take over the whole screen when you play. However, depending on whether the developer allows it, you might be able to play it in a window instead.
The process to window a game might take just a few seconds if the method you try ends up working for you. However, some games don't natively support windowed mode, so you may have to take some more involved steps to prevent those games from taking up the whole screen.
Check for the Easy Button
Some games, in their settings menus, explicitly allow the application to run in a windowed mode. You'll see options listed using varying language:
- Windowed Mode—runs the game in a resizeable window just like any other application
- Borderless Window Mode—runs the game as a window, which may be full screen or not, but without the usual chrome (borders, toolbars) that normal apps enjoy
- Fullscreen (Windowed) Mode—runs the game full-screen, but full-screen view is just a maximized window, so you'll be able to run other apps atop the game
Sometimes these settings, if they exist, are either buried in the in-game settings menu or are configured from the game's launcher.
Make Windows Work for You
The Windows operating system supports command-line switches to adjust certain start-up parameters of programs. One way to 'force' an application like your favorite game to run in a windowed mode is to create a special shortcut to the program's main executable, then configure that shortcut with the applicable command-line switch. Best of mithun chakraborty mp3 songs free download.
- Right-click or tap-and-hold the shortcut for the computer game you want to play in windowed mode. If you don't see it on the desktop, you can make the shortcut yourself. To make a new shortcut to a game or program in Windows, either drag it to the desktop from the Start menu or right-click (or tap-and-hold if you're on a touchscreen) the executable file and choose Send to > Desktop.Simcity 4 deluxe torrent. SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition includes the bestselling SimCity 4 and the all-new SimCity 4 Rush Hour Expansion Pack. Create the most massive region of cities ever,.
- Select Properties.
- In the Shortcut tab, in the Target: field, add -window or -w at the end of the file path. If one doesn't work, try the other.
- If you're prompted with an 'Access Denied' message, you may need to confirm that you're an administrator.
If the game does not support Windowed Mode play, then adding a command-line switch will not work. It's worth trying, however. Many games—officially or unofficially—allow the Windows operating system to control how the game renders.
Alternative Ways to Window a Game
How To Minimize A Game
Some Steam and other games can be recomposed into a window by pressing the Alt + Enter keys together while in the game, or by pressing Ctrl + F.
Another way some games store full-screen mode settings is in an INI file. Some might use the line 'dWindowedMode' to define whether to run the game in windowed mode or not. If there's a number after that line, make sure it's 1. Some may use True/False to define that setting. For example

Minimize Full Screen Games
If the game relies on DirectX graphics, programs like DxWnd serve as 'wrappers' that offer custom configurations to force full-screen DirectX games to run in a window. DxWnd sits between the game and the Windows operating system; it intercepts system calls between the game and the OS and translates them into an output that fits into a resizable window. But again, the catch is that the game must rely on DirectX graphics.
Some very old games from the MS-DOS era run in DOS emulators like DOSBox. DOSBox and similar programs use configuration files that specify full-screen behavior through customizable toggles.
Virtualization
One option is to run the game through virtualization software like VirtualBox or VMware or a Hyper-V virtual machine. Virtualization technology lets an entirely different operating system run as a guest OS within your existing operating system's session. These virtual machines always run in a window, although you can maximize the window to get a full-screen effect.
Run a game in a virtual machine if that game cannot be run in a windowed mode. As far as the game is concerned, it's functioning like normal; the virtualization software governs its appearance as a window in its host operating system, not the game itself.
Considerations
- Some games cannot be run in a windowed mode no matter what you try.
- Reverse any of the changes mentioned above if you decide you want to play the game in full-screen or regular mode again.
Sorry for my poor english! Im trying to be understandable!
Short catchup background:
I am playing only two games on steam, Counter Strike Source and Age of Empires III! Age of empires is running without any problem, but CSS.. the minimizing to desktop started out of the blue!! And it does it every 2min-30min! And this is a searious problem in a online game!
I this new computer a few months ago (Acer Nitro, desktop) and this minimizing started to happen, as I wrote, out of the blue, about 3 weeks ago!
When I want to play css without any bugs or problem, I need to take my old (many many year old ASUS desktop) and noisy-as- computer back in business, and this feels kinda.. wrong.. I want my NEW computer to run smoothly! So.. WHY is my old better to run onlinegames than my new one?
When this minimize is happening, I dont get any notes! Nothing is blinking.. Everything looks 'normal'. When I klick on the game-icon, it pops up right away. BUT STILL, this IS a huge problem.
Things I've tried out:
Wel. The simpliest things becouse Im not that good at reading advanced english! For example: switching of Malware while playing, and a few ASUS-programs. I downloaded Game booster, but It did not help. I tried to change the resolution in css, but It did not help either.
I've also checked some youtube-videos, but their problems (some program/file) did not exist on my computer. For example some. Tp-link? Or what ever. I also remowed the latest window-10 update from my computer.. Nope! No help!
And yeeesssshh.. I have re-installed Css.. Re-installed Steam.
Probably I've tried something else too, but Now I can't remember!
SO? Any facts? info? suggestions? ASAP! Im counting on you guys!
Can it be some small or huge program? Some X to remove? Some service? Some STEAM bug? <-- don't think so tho.. (becouse it runs normal on the old, dusty computer) Some driver?
AND I am playing with only 1 screen..
Hope to hear from you / xoxo / Stupid blonde girl
